Painting course

Sadhaka Painting

Discover your creative talents

In this course you will be challenged to experiment with paint, shape and colour. For people who are not afraid of a white canvas and want to discover or develop their own creative talents.

Drawing and painting outside is special! The sound of the birds, the wind through your hair, the sun on your face. This is a course for people who are not afraid of a white canvas and want to discover or develop their own creative talents.

The course

It is an art in its own right to choose from the multitude of images around you. You start by clarifying your interests and goals. You orient yourself by using the present footage and start with a brainstorming and sketching phase.
It will be discussed how to capture an atmosphere or an impression. Better vision is better drawing.

The release of expectation patterns and a more intensive perception play a big role.
After the preliminary work, the effect with paint on canvas follows. The influence of light on the colour and atmosphere in a painting are investigated. Attention is paid to layering the paint, composition, tone formation (light/dark), perspective, shadow, rhythm and structure, brush handling and mixing of colours. In this course you can work with acrylic paint, oil paint, but also with watercolor paint, pencils and pastel rice. Both intuitively and with preconceived plan, both abstract and figurative work can be done. Your personal preferences are the starting point of your work.

Weekly format

The evening of arrival is one of getting acquainted with each other. A short introduction will be made about the course week. The first morning begins with an extensive introduction. The rest of the 1st course day you will receive an instruction lesson on setting up a painting, the various paint types, brushes and you will start with the first research and sketch phase. In the following days, the program begins daily in silence with the sun saluting, a yoga cycle to wake up with (free participation). The sun saluting ends with a relaxing meditation. After breakfast follows a short creative warm up exercise with the group. Every morning and afternoon you can spend an average of three hours under supervision.
Outside of course hours, it is also possible to continue working independently. You are not obliged to make your own layout. The teacher will visit you to give directions and guide your visual process. Halfway through the week there is an afternoon off for your own interpretation. In between, work discussions take place, because you can learn a lot from each other. The week ends festively with an exhibition of the work made. The next morning after breakfast, everyone leaves home (or stays for another week).

You can take the course in the Sadhaka Combiweeks Yoga and Creative and Art Weeks.
